The College has 19 acres of land in its possession. The main structure has administrative offices, 37 class rooms, 13 laboratories, 3 computer labs, three IT enabled Seminar Halls, an Auditorium, a Central Library, Basket Ball Court, and Women’s Hostel (PG&UG). A centralized Generator of 6 MW power is installed in the campus. The needs of the differently-abled are met; ramp and hand rails, a separate toilet and adequate wheel chair facility are provided.  During the last five years, the College has expanded its physical infrastructure as per the needs of its academic growth.

The Technology Enabled Learning Spaces include 10 Smart Class rooms with seating capacity of 40 each, Physics E-Learning Room (A/c) with 60 seats and Interactive Board (75”), English Media Room with 18 computers and Audio Visual facility, all with ceiling mounted LCD projector, white board and Internet facilities and Chemistry Smart Room with 65”Interactive Board facility.

Three Seminar Halls include an A/c, 150 seat main seminar hall , Conference Hall,  A/c with  60 seats and an Elizabeth Memorial Hall with 75 seats all with Audio visual and LCD projection facilities

Laboratories include Physics (03 No.s) Chemistry (04 No.s),  Botany and Biotechnology (06 No.s) and Zoology (02 No.s) Labs

There are three Computer Centres, a Common Computer Centre (18 Desktop Computers with 1 server, UPS facility, LAN, Internet Connectivity, Printer and Scanner),  Physics Computer and Networking Centre ( Air conditioned with 25 Desktop Computers and 1 server, LAN, Two units of 5 KVA battery installed,) and a Computer Lab shared by Commerce and Mathematics Department ( 16 Desktop Computers, LAN,  5 KVA battery, Ceiling Mounted LCD projector).A computer professional is employed in the Common computer centre to help the students.

Green House consists of  collection of rare and endangered plants with Full time gardener to take care of plants. There are two museums, Zoology Museum with  rare collection of exhibits including various species of stuffed, animals, birds, skeletons, etc. and Botany Museum which Contains preserved specimens (formalin/alcohol) of botanical importance,  marine and fresh water algae, microscopic and macroscopic fungi, rare collections of bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms, morphological and anatomical specimens of angiosperms.

The two Research labs (Physics and Chemistry) are  supported by DST FIST for five years, with  Sophisticated instruments FT-IR, UV Visible Spectrometer, TGA/DTA/DSC Instrument, UV Vis Spectrophotometer, Florimeter, Spin coater, Sputtering Unit, High Temperature Furnaces, Optoelectronics instruments, etc.,  Computational Lab with Work station computer (i7 processor) and Gaussian Software installed,  etc

The existing Central Library is fully automated with KOHO software version 18.11 updated in 2017. The college has initiated the construction of a state of the art library complex.  The students are given Inflibnet access. Bandwidth available of internet connection in the Institution is 40 Mbps. Learning Management System MOODLE is effectively used in teaching learning .  Purchase of 4 Interactive Boards and Installation of a Video Conferencing Centre will be realized in the current academic year utilizing the RUSA grant.

Library

The college has a well equipped library with a rich collection of 52000 books , journals, magazines and reference texts. The library, with a vast and varied collection of books in active circulation, takes a highly significant place in college life. The college library functions continuously from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. Around 300 students avail themselves of the library facility every day.

Ladies Hostel

Sr.Rachel Joseph Hostel for Women

The sister Rachel Joseph Hostel for Women provides boarding to undergraduate and post graduate women students who pursue education in this college. The Hostel was constructed in 1972 and caters to the needs of the women students coming from the coastal and remote areas of Alapuzha and Kollam District. The hostel has strength of 63 students.

Auditorium

The silver Jubilee Auditorium was added to the prized possession of Bishop Moore College in 1989. It was in 1986 that The Rt. Rev. Dr. Donald Coggan former Arch Bishop of Canterbury laid the foundation stone of the Silver Jubilee auditorium. The auditorium has the capacity to seat 1200 students in the ascending seating arrangement. The auditorium is the venue for major cultural events organized in the college. It has been the venue where many eminent and Historic personalities have put left their footprints.

Book Stall

A Book Stall is run by the College for the benefit of the students. All student requisites are available in the book stall. Credit facilities and attractive discounts are offered for all purchases. Students are advised to patronize the book stall for all their requirements regarding purchase of academic books and other stationary articles.

Gymnasium

 

A state of the art Gymnasium equipped with the latest instruments caters to the health and fitness needs of the students. The Gymnasium is open from 6.00 am to 9.00 am in the mornings and from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm in the evenings.

 

Ladies Lounge

Utmost preference is given to the health and hygiene of the ladies. Well maintained toilets are available for the ladies in the lounge. Adequate area is provided for ladies to unwind and relax. There is also storage space for ladies to keep their belonging under lock and key.

 

Community & Counseling

In order to do justice to its commitment of service to the society Bishop Moore College has started a community and counseling centre. The centre envisages the active involvement of the student community also in the service oriented programmes along with their academic pursuits. Awareness building is to be the first step. A centre for continuing education functions here. It offers various certificate courses which cater to the needs of students and also other members of the community.

 

 

Canteen

Tasty and nutritious food is served at reasonable rates in the college canteen for the staff and students. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are made available here. It is the place where our Students and staff have heated discussions and scholarly discourses over the coffee table. The canteen functions from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm. It is a place to cool off and invigorate yourself for the next academic session.
